SPESSARTINE is a manganese, aluminum silicate mineral. It is a member of the GARNET Group. Colors can be red, orange, reddish-orange, reddish-brown, yellowish-brown, or brown. It belongs to the Isometric crystal system. Crystals are typically dodecahedrons. Hardness is 6.5 – 7.5 on the Mohs scale. Spessartine occurs in magmatic, metamorphic, and pegmatic rocks.
