Sidewinder Minerals
Bill Jones started collecting minerals and fossils while a geology student at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. Then family obligations consumed all of his free time for many years. He got back into collecting in 2009 and joined several mineral clubs in the Denver area. He retired in 2011 after 35 years in the oil and gas business to focus on growing his mineral hobby into a full-time business. He has sold mineral and fossil specimens as Sidewinder Minerals online beginning in 2011 and at various Gem & Mineral Shows beginning 2012.

Bill volunteers his time and efforts to several Denver-area mineral clubs. He currently serves as Board member and Treasurer of the Friends of the Colorado School of Mines Museum of Earth Science which raises funds to assist the Museum. He has served on the Boards of the Littleton Gem & Mineral Club, the Colorado Mineral Society, and the North Jeffco Gem & Mineral Club. He currently serves as Treasurer of the Greater Denver Area Gem & Mineral Council which has oversight of the Denver Gem & Mineral Show. He served two years as Treasurer of the Denver Gem & Mineral Show and served on the Show Committee for a number of years.
