Welcome to my store, Season For Eagles

I have loved art all my life. There are so many forms and opportunities to be creative that it is very exciting . I wish I had more time to try it all! Spent most of my adult life teaching Physical Education and coaching at all levels.  Worked with inmates in a psychiatric prison doing many forms of art. Did a couple of recent trips to Sierra Leone in Africa. Both times doing artwork with children.  My most recent work, I did artwork with over 850 children. Got to see some very historical artwork last summer in Israel. On my journey of life, I have enjoyed shed antler art and jewelry, leather, turning aspen wood, knife making, acrylic painting, and pastels.  Family influences were my mother who was an art teacher and my father who was a paleontologist.

I have settled into silversmithing using cabochons, gemstones, fossils, seashells, glass, or whatever is interesting and unusual in silver, copper, and brass.  In the past several years, I started working with precious metal clay and fusing glass.  Have enjoyed seeing many parts of the world, working as a raft guide for many years in Alaska, a year long around the world  trip, and living in the Colorado mountains for most of my life.  How can one live here and not be stimulated by God’s artwork.  My designs come into my head much faster than I can ever produce the pieces.  I get a great variety of stones, many of which are very unusual and hard to get. I am blessed with the joy and excitement to be creative whether it be a simple design where the beautiful stone accentuates the piece, or a more creative “artsy piece” with many patterns, colors, and shapes.  I love to create “eye catcher” pieces. Life is good!!!

Jody has entered a jewelry piece in competition at the Denver Gem and Mineral show on 6 occasions.  Each year he has entered, he has won the Best of Lapidary/ Jewelry  award.  The years he participated were 1998, 2009, 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2014.   Each year the show has a theme such as Tourmaline one year or agate another year for example.  In the tourmaline theme year (2013) he did a multi stone tourmaline piece set in silver.  In 2014, the show theme was Agates so he did a multi stone piece of  jewelry with Crazy Lace Agate set in silver.

Congratulations to Jody Sawdo for winning first place for the Best of Lapidary/Jewelry award again this year at the Denver Gem and Mineral Show, September 2015 with a silver necklace with 9 cabochons from the Bisbee Mine and a malachite pendant.  All of Jody’s designs are winners!
